Wayman College of Aeronautics

Wayman College of Aeronautics, rebranded from Wayman Aviation Academy in 2024, is the largest and longest-running ab-initio flight school in South Florida. Founded in 1987, it has trained more than 5,000 pilots from over 80 countries, with graduates now flying for carriers including American, Delta, United, Singapore Airlines, JetBlue, and Korean Air.

The college operates from two Miami-area bases, Hollywood North Perry Airport and Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport, with over 200,000 square feet of facilities including two FAA Part 145 certified maintenance hangars and an in-house FAA testing centre. The fleet exceeds 40 aircraft, from Cessna 152s and 172s in both analogue and G1000 configurations to Tecnam P2006T and Piper Seneca twins, supported by more than 58 instructors at a 1:4 student-to-instructor ratio.

Wayman holds FAA Part 141 approval with R-ATP authorisation, letting graduates qualify for a restricted ATP at reduced hours. International students can choose F-1 or M-1 visa programs, and a dedicated DGCA India Pilot Program qualifies graduates to convert directly to an Indian licence on return home. Airline pipeline partners include SkyWest, Republic Airways, and Silver Airways, and the 2024 rebrand added Associate of Science degrees in aeronautics, aviation management, and aviation maintenance management with university partners.
